Light Speed from Real Time Gaming, is a 3 reel single pay line progressive jackpot slot, with a multiplier feature capable of increasing the value of each winning spin by up to seven times. Styled like a traditional casino slot machine, the slot has a fixed coin value of 25 cents and a maximum bet of 75 cents. Maximum bet – 3 coins must be played to qualify for the chance to win the progressive jackpot

Light Speed has a funky space theme; on the reels you will encounter a whole host of out of this world symbols - aliens, spaceships, stars, planets, ray guns, and robots. The green and black Light Speed symbol activates the multiplier feature. The number of Light Speed symbols which appear on the reels between each winning spin determine the amount your next win will be multiplied by. The Robot symbol is wild and substitutes for the other symbols with the exception of the Light Speed icon

On either side of the slot you will see a row of flashing green lights – this is the Light Speed multiplier meter. You will see the current value of the multiplier at the very top of the slot, next to the logo. Each time a Light Speed symbol appears on the reels, the multiplier meter will increase by one – up to a maximum of seven times. When you hit a winning spin, it will be multiplied by whatever value is on the meter, and the meter will reset back to one. The progressive jackpot is won when three ray gun symbols line up when the Light Speed meter is at 7. If you hit three ray guns or three robots when the Light Speed meter is at a lower value, you win 400 coins multiplied by the value on the meter.

The progressive jackpot starts at $700 and the current value is displayed in the centre of the slot. The average jackpot value is around $4,000 with the progressive being won once every six weeks or so. Occasionally the jackpot won’t be won for several months and had reached over $15,000 when it was won in June 2006.

Although it’s not the most sophisticated slot in the world in terms of sounds and graphics, Light Speed does have a certain amount of appeal -its pays lower winning combinations frequently, and the multiplier bonus means that even smaller wins can build up quite quickly. One of the things which let this slot down is the lack of an auto play feature – all that repetitive clicking can quickly be monotonous. Sadly the auto play facility under the options tab doesn’t work for this slot.

Even so, Light Speed is an often forgotten gem, hiding amongst the other more well known Real Time Gaming progressives. Although it will never make you a millionaire it nevertheless offers you a lot of fun for your 75 cents.
